This area shows the mainly private residential estate of Thomson Road / Andrew Road. The Caldecott Hill Broadcast Centre of the MediaCorp Studios/Group is located here at Andrew Road (Singapore Postal Code: 299939). In August 2006, the group announced that the centre is expected to move out to a new facility at Bukit Batok in year 2011.

Several large nurseries can be found along Joan Road and facing the main trunk road, Thomson Road. In December 2006, heavy year-end rain saw Joan road and the nearby Olive Road being flooded and causing severe damages to many of the nurseries in the area.
